Simplicity. Clean design. Ease of use. This is just some of the feedback we get when we ask people what they love about TeamGantt.

We pride ourselves in our focus on what our customers truly need in a gantt chart. But underneath the hood, you’ll find several neat TeamGantt features that enable you to save more time, get more work done, and keep track of your team's progress.

Instead of leaving all the hard work up to you, we've rounded up 10 features you probably didn't know exist—until today. Try these features out to see how they can improve your workflow and provide more insight for you and your team.

Feature #1: Baselines

A baseline is a quick snapshot of of your project at any given time. It gives you a clear picture of how you and your team are progressing, such as finished tasks, jobs that seemingly fall through the cracks, and how close you are to reaching your deadlines.

To create a baseline, go to Menu > Baselines > Create New Baseline Set.

Over time, you can select baselines to compare the planned timeline vs. the actual or current timeline. You'll then know what to update or remove from the project to reach your project goals.

Feature #2: Open multiple projects in one gantt chart

Did you know you can open and manage 2 or more projects all in one gantt chart? This is especially useful if you're overseeing several projects every day.

There are 3 ways to open multiple projects at once:

  1. Click My Projects from the sidebar menu. On the My Active Projects list, check the boxes to the left of a project's name. When done, click the Open Multiple Projects button at the bottom of the page.
  2. Open the sidebar menu and find your Active Projects list. Click the Select Multiple link, and choose the projects you want to open by ticking the boxes to the left of the project's name. Once done, click the Open Selected Projects link. This will open the selected projects in a new gantt chart.
  3. While inside a project, you can open additional projects by going to Menu > Open Projects. This method enables you to open on-hold and completed projects as well. Select the projects you want to open, and TeamGantt automatically opens them on the gantt chart.

You can refer to this tutorial for more info on how to open multiple projects simultaneously.

Feature #3: Request a progress update

Reaching out to a teammate for a progress update can be a drag when you have to constantly draft follow-up emails from scratch. TeamGantt solves this problem by allowing you to automatically request a progress update with just 2 clicks.

  1. Click the chat bubble to the left of the task.
  2. Click Request a progress update in the top right. TeamGantt will send an email to the person/people assigned to the task reminding them to update their % Complete.

Feature #4: Zoom

Did you know you can adjust the view of your project to display tasks on either a daily or weekly basis? TeamGantt’s Zoom feature gives you the option to zoom in and out of the chart, with 60% Week View (36 months) as the farthest you can zoom out.

Under this same menu, you’ll also find an option to change the font size of the chart. You can choose between 9 and 16 points—whichever suits you best!

Feature #5: Share your gantt chart with non-TeamGantt users

Whether prepping for a client meeting or a public presentation, you may want to share a TeamGantt project with someone who hasn't been invited to the project. In TeamGantt, you have 2 options for sharing  a read-only view of your gantt chart. This saves you the trouble of inviting extra people to your project.

Option 1: Embed your gantt chart

To share or embed your gantt chart, go to Menu > Embed, select your project name, and copy the iFrame or URL for the chart from the dialog box. You can customize what your viewer will see by adjusting the embed settings to either hide or display certain information, such as documents, comments, estimated hours, etc.

Option 2: Share a view-only URL of your project

Just want to grab a quick link to share? Scroll down to the bottom of the chart, and click Share > Copy Link to Chart to get a view-only URL for your project.

Feature #6: Move task groups from one project to another

When working on 2 or more projects, you may need to move tasks from one project to another. Lucky for you, we've made the process extremely easy to do!

First, make sure you have both projects open. Then click on the task group you want to move, and drag it from its current project to the new one.

This same drag-and-drop process can also be used for individual or multiple tasks. Check out this tutorial or watch the video below to see how to select and reschedule multiple tasks at once.

Feature #7: Shake to fix dependency violations

TeamGantt supports finish-to-start dependencies. That means a dependent task can only begin if the parent task is complete. Otherwise, the dependency line turns bright red to indicate a dependency violation. To fix this, all you have to do is move the dependent task a day ahead of its predecessor.

If rescheduling a task causes a chain of dependency violations, try this neat trick to save time. Simply click and hold the top task in the string and shake it back and forth in the timeline. Once you release the task, all the dependent tasks will reorder to begin after the task they depend on. Cool, huh?

Check out this quick tutorial video for more information on how to work with dependencies in TeamGantt.

Feature #8: Undo changes made to your gantt chart

Did you accidentally delete a task from your gantt chart? Renamed a task "Party planning" when it should have been "After-party planning"?

No worries! In TeamGantt, it’s easy to undo these changes. Here’s how it works:

1. Go to the History tab of your gantt chart.

project history

2. Click  on the "undo change" link found at the top right of each item.

Need to undo a specific type of change, such as % complete updates or rescheduled tasks? You can filter your list of changes quickly by selecting the options on the left side of the History tab.

Feature #9: Access other account projects (for Account Holders)

Our final feature enables the Account Holder to view and access all of the projects created in the account. This enables you to see what types of projects your teammates are working on and delete unnecessary projects from the account.

To access all of the account projects, simply go to My Projects and select the Active projects tab. Then click Other Account Projects at the bottom of the list to see a full list of projects within your account.

Feature #10: Save a project as a template

Ever feel like you're creating the same types of projects over and over again? Saving a project as a template can be a big time-saver, and it's really easy to do.

VIDEO - Using Templates in TeamGantt

Simply open the project you want to use as a template, and go to Menu > Save as Template. Next time you create a new project, you'll find your new template under My Templates in the Templates drop-down.

There are lots of ways to use templates to get projects off the ground faster, and we've even got some pre-built gantt chart templates ready for you.

Here's how one project manager puts templates to use for her projects.
